Hey guys and gals!! I hope that you are all keeping well, we miss you! I just wanted to share something to encourage you all, and just to remind you of God’s promises to us!

I recently read Psalm 18, which is written by David as a song of praise from deliverance (I would so recommend reading the passage, is such a challenge to us!); David talks about God being his ‘rock’, a stronghold that we are able to put our trust in. This means that God doesn’t change, He isn’t influenced by any situation or circumstance but instead stays certain and steady. This is because, our God is so much more powerful than anything else we may put our trust into! He knows us and He knows exactly what we will experience or come up against because He planned it all out. We can trust in the one that holds tomorrow!

Solid Rock

As it says in Psalm 40:2-‘he lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand’. Whilst David in this Psalm wasn’t talking about a literal rock, it shows us that God is our safety and protector. I know I have definitely felt like I am stuck in that pit, that I don’t know what to do or where to go next, but in calling out to God in those times he can lift us out of those places into His presence. Even when we are at our absolute lowest ebb, when it feels like nothing is going right-we can go to God as He is our solid rock to stand on, our place of safety. From that place God gives us strength, as in Psalm 18:32-‘it is God who arms me with strength and keeps my ways secure’. Guys, we can’t do this in our own strength! We get weary and lost, we lose track of where we are supposed to be headed. By trusting in God as our Rock, He arms us with strength to be able to face whatever He gives to us! As the saying goes-‘God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called’ and He calls all of us to be a part of His family, to live for Him. We don’t need to have a special set of skills, we just need to be willing to put our trust into His hands and He will give us all the strength that we need.

He is our refuge!

Psalm 71:3-‘be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go’. I find this verse so encouraging as it reminds us that no matter where we are or what we are doing we are always able to run to God! We can never be too far away from Him, nothing is ever too much for Him. When we are struggling, we can call upon Him and when we are glad He rejoices with us! I find that so incredible that wherever I am God is there for me and wants me to be close to Him. He is such a relational God and He desires intimacy with each and every one of us. As our refuge, He provides protection-just like rocks were used as shelter and protection from the desert heat (Isaiah 32:2). When they were struggling, they found a place that they could rest-just like we can rest in God’s presence. We can know that He is God and He holds us and is in control of our every situation, no matter what we may feel like at the time! ‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’-Jeremiah 29:11.

I hope that this encourages you and let us continually remind ourselves to put our trust in God as our Rock, our place of refuge and deliverance.

God bless,

Hannah x
